The smaller ships market is a specialised field, distinct from the world of large ships. Understanding the needs and demands of shipowners operating in this sector is essential. Carina is committed to this market and is focused on delivering a tailored product to meet the needs of our clients.
Carina was started by Tindall Riley (TR) who trace their origins back to 1855 and the establishment of the Britannia P&I Club, the world’s first P&I mutual and an integral part of the IG system. In 2018 TR decided to focus on its mutual products and looked for an organisation with the same ethos, tradition, and security to take stewardship of the Carina brand. MECO Group were chosen by TR to take over the reigns in late 2018.
Carinas’ experienced underwriting and claims teams are part of the MECO family – together we enjoy a wealth of experience and specialist knowledge. Carina boasts an extensive network of Correspondents worldwide who are ready to step in and help at a local level whenever they are needed.
Carina maintains a list of commercial and legal correspondents in most ports who are able to assist our claims staff with investigations, surveyors and casualties.
